Sorry, bit of a basic question... I'm using copper brake/fuel lines and I'm not quite sure how to fit three pipes along the inside of the transmission tunnel using p-clips as two of the pipes will have to overlap the screws which I'm guessing is a bad idea as they'll eventually rub through. Any photos/tips gratefully received.
Use one screw to hold two P clamps 1 up 1 down.. then 3rd tube above or below the others with screw location away from others and clamps close together.. try out double flairs on scrap tube a few times to get it right before going to good tubing..
Thanks for the response. This makes sense, however even with two clips sharing one screw the third clip goes way above the height of the chassis member. The pic below isn't great but it kind of shows what I mean.
Daydreamer nice look job.. were did you get the single and double clips.. adam if you are going to use the P clips turn the top one around..also the clamps can be bent closer together once screwed down..so move the double down alittle so when bent lower one is even with bottom of rail.. bend top down also.. or usr OEM lines and clamps.. I like the look and neat job of the plastic clips on DayD car..
Single brake line clip , these work well , the pipe needs to be shaped so that it is not under tension, the clips will not grip and hold the pipe as positively as a P clip but they work well if the pipe has been shaped by hand to the chassis rail. www.cbsonline.co.uk/product/Push_In_Brake_Pipe_Clips_BPC2
twin brake line clip , these work less well as they are a tricky to get seated in the chassis and they rock a bit when installed, I'd mix them up with the single clips or just use singles if I was doing it again. Thinking about it I might try some of the fleabay options at the bottom of this list. www.cbsonline.co.uk/product/Twin_Brake_Pipe_Clips_BPC
One of the objectives with the brake and fuel line fixings is to hold the lines off the chassis to prevent the copper line being worn through by rubbing against the chassis on account of general vibration. I believe the IVA inspector will want to see that all the brake lines, fixed or flexible, are held securely and not liable to touch bodywork or chassis where vibration may cause wear and ultimately failure.
airforceone: Always wanted one, just wasn't sure I had the knowledge to jump straight in at that level hence the rocket. More Than happy to give it a go now. Next Years Project possibly.
