Hi all!
It is about a month until my kit is ready, so I thought I would start my build diary now as the Focus is now in the "workshop" and I am going to start stripping it tomorrow.
This build diary is largely for my own posterity, but hopefully you will all find it interesting as well.
So, the options I have chosen are as follows:
Orange chassis Black panels Double hoop roll bar Standard seats Quickrack steering Hi Spec calipers front and rear
I have also ordered a quickshift gear lever and pedal kit from Paul.
So, a month to strip the required donor parts, then get them cleaned up. I also really need to find the time to go and visit Jim as his build looks amazing and there us definitely some things I can learn there!
I will update with pictures as soon as I take them!
Cheers Mark

Cheers guys.
I am making good progress on the focus. Another couple of hours work and I'll be able to take the engine/gearbox out.
Jim- I'll give you a call later in the week as hopefully I'll be able to pop round later in the week if you are around?

Just a quick update on the progress of stripping the focus, so nothing too exciting I'm, afraid! Here is the Focus in-situ in my Dad's barn: And here is the progress so far on stripping it down: I must say that it would have been a right pain if I was trying to strip it whilst keeping everything intact! Lots has just fallen apart due to rust, but luckily nothing that I want to keep. I was planning on keeping the original catalytic converter to start with, but even that needs a bit of TLC! You can just see it in the picture, but the bracket that holds it on about halfway down is completely gone on the front side due to rust! Anyway, another couple of hours and hopefully will have the engine and g/box out. Then I can start cleaning the gearbox up get it sorted out!

I had the same problem with mine. Looking like I'll end up buying everything new, I am after a new reg for the kit, the old bits I've kept aren't up to much, the brake/clutch res I have just fitted has broken just as I was fitting the hose onto it, and I've just bought some new driveshafts at a very good price. So all I have left from the donor is the steering column.
Bang goes the budget.
Ned.

I am starting to see it that way too....don't see the point make it all nice and shiny only to fit old dirty resevoirs, but I'll have to wait and see!
Where did you get the driveshafts from?

Quick update:
Paid 50% to RTR as they have started to build the chassis. This is a week ahead of where I was expecting it to be so you can imagine how excited I am getting!
I have decided to go for an Omex ECU, Viper brake line kit and Vibra Technic mounts all supplied through RTR. Hopefully this will make it a lot easier!
More updates soon I hope!

Going the Omex route myself.
If you don't mind me asking, how much did the vibra tech mounts cost. I've just spent a few hours cleaning the old focus ones and they still Look a bit rough. New Ford ones would cost almost £200 including p&p. So I'm trying to talk myself into getting the vibra tech's.

Hi Ned,
The 3 mounts through RTR are £387.60
I think they will definitely be worth it!

Thanks Mark
Need to think about that, that extra £400 could pay for my exhaust from RTR. Maybe an upgrade for next year.
Cheers
Ned
